US winter storms shut Novus methionine plant
As winter storms Uri and Viola continue to wreak havoc across the south-central United States, Novus has suspended most operations at its facility in Chocolate Bayou, Texas where it produces methionine hydroxy analogue (HMTBa) for its Alimet feed additive, National Hog Farmer reported earlier this week.
Government officials and utility companies are prioritising power sources for essential services and people's homes.
"The health and safety of Novus employees in the affected areas are top priorities and the ability to resume operations fully will be contingent upon safe working conditions," the company said.
Novus said it is reviewing the situation and will resume operations as soon as it is safe and appropriate to do so. The company is also working to minimise disruptions to customers and keeping them updated. Customers can also contact their Novus representatives for the latest information.
