Quiet China methionine market holds prices flat
Prices of methionine remained flat during the week ending February 21.
Trade was light over the past two weeks due to the celebration of Chinese New Year holidays. As most feed millers extended their holidays, demand was extremely light, resulting in negligible transaction even after the holidays officially ended on February 13.
Price quotes of imported dl-methionine stayed in the range of RMB31.50-33/kg.
Most end-users have stockpiled ample inventories prior to the long holidays. Hence, the sales of methionine are expected to be slow in the coming period, especially as poultry markets are poised to remain soft after Chinese New Year.
