Vónin Scotland receives government funding boost for net maintenance facility

In a significant move for the Scottish aquaculture sector, Vónin Scotland Ltd secured GBP 955,000 (US$1.2 million) in funding from the Scottish Government to advance its aquaculture services, Fish Farmer reported.

The grant aims to support the development of a state-of-the-art facility for maintaining, cleaning, and treating fish farming nets, addressing a crucial need in the industry.

Located adjacent to Mowi Scotland's feed plant in Kyleakin, Skye, the new facility is poised to bolster infrastructure for sustainable fish farming practices in the region.

This funding, allocated as part of the Marine Fund Scotland's 2023 to 2024 initiatives, underscores the government's commitment to supporting the marine industry post-Brexit, bridging gaps left by changes in funding structures.
