Lysine prices plunge in China amid excess supply, sluggish demand
Lysine prices fell sharply during the week ending February 14.
After the Chinese New Year holidays, pork demand dropped almost 50% while sales of broiler remained weak due to the bird flu epidemic. Poor feed demand hampered the sales of lysine, dragging prices tremendously lower as producers competed to close deals.
Price quotes of 70-percent lysine were unchanged at RMB5.80-6.50/kg.
