Market analysis
Demand for pork plummeted after the Chinese New Year holidays, curtailing the hog releases. Pork carcass volumes of major wholesale centres plunged to 4,816 tonnes, tremendously lower by 45% compared with the previous week.
Nonetheless, with the quantity of finishing hog limited, hog prices stood firm, inching lower a mere 0.01%. In regions where availability was tight, prices moved higher even amid weak demand.
