Global markets

FOB prices of Peruvian prime-grade fishmeal stayed unchanged at US$1,570/tonne.

As of January 26, Peru's fish catch in the northern seas totalled 1.96 million tonnes, fulfilling 98% of the quota.

Market analysis

Feed millers gradually resumed operation over the week but maintained low production. Sales of fishmeal were slow, putting a lid on the price.

Price quotes for prime-grade products remained in the range of RMB11,600-11,800/tonne.

Market forecast

As more shipments of fishmeal arrive, supplies are expected to be ample. This, in conjunction with slack post-festive demand, will weigh on fishmeal prices in the coming weeks.
