Pakistan's H1 2013 fish exports rise 2.64% on-year
During the first half of the current financial year, Pakistan's fish and fish preparations exports recorded a growth of 2.64% as compared to the same period of last year.
During the first two quarters of current financial year about 70,675 tonnes of fish and fish preparations worth US$156.92 million were exported against the 58,104 tonnes valuing US$152.88 million of same period last year.
According the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on-month basis the export of fish and fish products increased by 12.24%. During the period under review about 13,487 tonnes fish and fish products worth US$3.05 million were exported as against the 13,245 tonnes valuing US$27.1 million in the same period last year.
The data revealed fish and fish preparations exports during the month of December 2011 was recorded at 9,819 tonnes, costing US$27.200 million.
From July-December 2012 the meat and meat preparations exports also went up by 43.74% as about 35,901 tonnes of the products worth US$120.78 million were exported.
The exports of meat and meat preparations during the same period of last year were recorded at 27,007 tonnes worth US$84.03 million, the data revealed. The meat and meat preparations exports during the month of December 2012 also increased by 45.8% as compared to the same month of last financial year.
During the month of December 2012 the country earned US$18.54 million by exporting 5,737 tonnes of meat and meat products, which was recorded at 4,227 tonnes valuing US$12.07 million during the month of December 2011.
In first half of current financial year the exports of other food commodities increased by 17.31% as compared to the same period of last financial year. From July-December 2012, the country earned US$553.03 million by exporting different food commodities against the US$456.10 million exports of same period of last financial year, it added.
