More frozen pork to be released from China's state reserves after Lunar New Year

The China Merchandise Reserve Management Center said more frozen pork will be released from state reserves for sale after the Lunar New Year week long holiday, reported Reuters.

An additional 20,000 tonnes of frozen pork was released on January 21, 2020 to add more supplies for Lunar New Year, where traditionally pork consumption is at its highest.

More than 200,000 tonnes of frozen pork have already been released from state reserves since early December last year, to supplement dwindling pork supplies caused by the African swine fever in the country.
