Pre-festive buying, import cost rise underpin China methionine prices

Prices of methionine moved higher during the week ending January 19.

Feed millers stocked depleted inventories in preparation for the Chinese New Year holidays.

For liquid methionine, price quotes remained at RM26-27/kg.

In the near term, methionine prices will stay firm under the support of pre-festive buying and higher import costs due to the depreciation of renminbi.
