Brazil's pork: Lesser exports but bigger value in 2014
Brazil's pork exports stood at 455,817 tonnes for January-November 2014, a 5% drop from the same period in 2013, the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) reports.
However, there is also a significant increase in US dollar value, with exports totaling at US$1.483 billion, a rise 17.9% over last year. The average price is recorded at US$3,254, a 24.1% jump over 2013.
For November 2014, the export volume was 42,769 tonnes, 10.6% lower than the same period in 2013. In the same month, value was recorded at US$147.6 million, a 43.9% rise over November 2013, while the average price is 30.1% higher at US$3,451/tonne.
