H5N1 outbreak in Jiangxi, China kills 2,371 birds
 

 

More than 20,000 birds had died in a farm in Jiangxi province, China, due to an outbreak of the H5N1 avian flu.
 

According to a report send to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), the actual figure for bird fatalities from the virus is 2,371, with the rest being culled.

 

The incident occurred on January 5, in the Gongqingcheng region of Jianxi.

 

During the last H5N1 outbreaks in China was in October 2014, there were 16 such incidents during October 2014.
