China feed additives: November market prices stay firm despite soft demand
Rebounding from record lows, prices of folic acid surged by 109% in the month.
Price hikes of other vitamins were milder, mostly limited to less than 10%. Vitamin C prices increased by 7-10%; those of vitamin E rose by 8%. Vitamin B6 prices climbed by 6%.
Vitamin K3 prices fell by 13% while inositol prices dipped by 3% over the month. Prices of vitamin B2, niacin, and calcium pantothenate were stable to marginally lower.
In October, China exported 36,717 tonnes of vitamin products, an increase of 19% on-month and 24% compared with October 2023. In January-October 2024, the country exported 340,028 tonnes of vitamin products, a 16% rise compared with the first 10 months in 2023.
China exported 16,813 tonnes of vitamin C in October, a 43% increase on-year and 5.3% on-month. In January-October, 149,500 tonnes of vitamin C were exported, inching up 0.9% compared with the same period in 2023.
As for vitamin A, China exported 684 tonnes in October, expanding 30% on-year and 25% on-month. In January-October, 5,323 tonnes of vitamin A were exported, an increase of 31% compared with the same period in 2023. The country imported 1,100 tonnes of vitamin A in January-October 2024, an increase of 2.2% year-on-year.
Vitamin E exports totalled 10,008 tonnes in October, an increase of 65% on-year and 3% on-month. Between January and October 2024, 92,400 tonnes of vitamin E were exported, a 36% increase, compared with the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, China imported 2,685 tonnes of vitamin E in January-October 2024, an increase of 45% year-on-year.
For minerals, prices of higher-grade calcium phosphate increased by 4%.
Copper sulphate prices were lower by 14% whereas those of zinc oxide and zinc sulphate dropped by 8% and 9%, respectively. Manganese sulphate prices softened by 2%. Prices of ferrous sulphate increased by 15%.
Amino acid prices were higher in November. Threonine and tryptophan prices rose by 2% and 2%, respectively. Methionine prices rose by 1%. Prices of 98.5-percent lysine increased by 5%; those of 70-percent varieties strengthened by 10%.
In October, China exported 100,000 tonnes of lysine, up by 2.4% on-month and 16% on-year. The accumulated export volume of lysine in January-October increased by 17% to 914,000 tonnes compared with the same period in 2023.
