Price cuts fail to stimulate methionine demand in China
Prices of methionine were unchanged during the week ending January 8.
Despite the recent price cuts, demand for methionine showed little improvement as feed millers were reluctant to increase stockpiles. Distributors and producers held prices unchanged, however, amid paltry profits.
Price quotes of imported dl-methionine stayed in the range of RMB21.50-22.50/kg.
Methionine sellers will hold down prices in the near term.
RMB1=US$0.1540 (Jan 8)
