Broiler demand in Bangladesh has increased very rapidly during the past decade. During 1991-2002 chicken meat consumption reached up to 70% from a negligible position. This has occurred because of dramatic shifts in demand, as well as relatively reduced prices for broilers. The market price for chicken meat has observed an increase of 10% - 15% annually in Bangladesh during the past several years, with relatively high prices producing rapid market entry by numerous small producers. More recently, the market has been subject to price declines, which we believe are consistent with market consolidation, including exit by inefficient producers. We estimate that broiler demand in the Dhaka area in 2002 stands at around 30% of the national market, or 60,000 metric tones.
Although Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE) has been widely used as a feed ingredient in many countries, it has not been fully utilized in the chicken feeding. This attributes to the difficulty in obtaining the right enzymes for the effective conversion of PKE and cheap commercial enzymes. In view of these issues, Inproser has successfully introduced a breakthrough enzyme product ("ORGAZYME"). The work covered in this paper provides a revolutionary step in the area of the chicken feeding. This article offers the reader a detailed result of the chemical analysis and an experiment on growth and meat quality improvement of the chicken fed with Orgafeed-based diets in comparison with an established commercial feed. In summary, this paper presents Orgafeed as a superior feed and meat enhancing quality demonstrating its vast potential as an alternative feed ingredient for use with the other monogastric livestock and omnivorous fish.
