Philippine corn's impressive supply side turnaround
Rising productivity, expanding meat demand and a wave of export-oriented foreign investment are turning around the Philippine corn sector's terms of trade.
After languishing in the late 2000s, the last few years have seen impressive increases in Philippine corn production. In the first quarter of 2013, the department of agriculture reported another record harvest of 2.2 million tonnes, up 10% from 2 million tonnes in 2012.
