Market analysis

Demand for lysine slowed as most buyers have stockpiled inventories for the New Year holidays. Hence, even as Ajinomoto lifted prices quotes of lysine by 5-10% globally, prices were soft in China domestic market.

In Europe, price quotes for Q4 deliveries stayed in the range of EUR1.29-1.35/kg.

Market forecast

Hog sales did to strengthen as much as expected despite the stimulation of pre-New Year buying. Feed millers are therefore poised to limit production, resulting in slower usages of lysine. Prices should remain weak in the coming period amid ample availability and cautious demand.
