Market analysis

Demand for lysine was sluggish amid a confluence of factors, including lower protein requirements for feeds, weak soymeal prices and dismal sales of hog feed. Meanwhile, excess capacity of the lysine industry kept supply abundant, exerting pressure on producers to negotiate prices.

In Europe, price quotes were unchanged in the range of EUR1.25-1.30/kg.

Market forecast

Lysine prices are poised to remain soft with availability abundant and demand showing no signs of improving. Moreover, smaller producers and traders who need cash eagerly will cut prices in a bid to move sales, hence weighing down lysine prices.
