*Commonly referred to in China as liquid methionine is methionine hydroxyl analogue, a liquid source of supplemental methionine.

Market analysis

Sales of methionine were tepid as feed consumption was slower than expected. Feed producers were reluctant to place orders for amino acids with inventories ample. Additionally, supplies of methionine were plentiful due to high output, hence exerting further pressure on the market.

In Europe, prices of China-produced methionine remained in the range of EUR2.09-2.12/kg.

Market forecast

Methionine market is projected to stay weak due to poor demand. To trim inventories, traders and methionine producers will be inclined to lower prices in the coming week.
