Market analysis

Lysine sales weakened as feed millers were not eager to stock inventories while usages were slow after the government lowered protein requirements in feeds. Moreover, market participants were optimistic that the trade war between China and the US will improve, and the high import tariff on US soy import might be lifted. Consequently, prices slid as lysine availability increased.

In Europe, price quotes stayed in the range of EUR1.25-1.30/kg.

Market forecast

A weak soymeal market, in conjunction with low protein requirements in animal feeds and slack hog feed demand, will curtail the sales of lysine. Moreover, export demand is expected to be flat as renminbi has appreciated lately. Lysine prices are seen soft in the coming weeks.
