FBA Issue 29: November / December 2009

January 27 - 29, 2010
International Poultry Exposition (IPE) 2010 & International Feed Exposition (IFE) 2010

For the world-wide poultry industry, all roads lead to Atlanta. The 2010 International Poultry Expo (IPE 2010), will be held from Wednesday, January 27 to Friday, January 29, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Sponsored by U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, this is the 62nd annual IPE and the largest fair of its kind in the world.

As has been the case in previous years, running concurrently with the IPE 2010 will be the International Feed Exposition (IFE) 2010. This will give stakeholders from these two integrated industries a common meeting ground in one roof.

IPE has long been recognized as the poultry and egg industry's global marketplace.  In 2009, almost 18,000 industry leaders from throughout the United States and 96 other countries traveled to Atlanta to attend IPE.   More than 850 exhibiting companies displayed the latest technology, equipment, supplies, and services for all phases of poultry and egg production and processing.  All segments of the industry are represented:  live production, hatcheries, processing, further processing, marketing, feed milling, rendering, and all support activities.

Complementing the giant exhibit floor, education programs will keep management up to date on key industry issues.  Education sessions kick off on the Tuesday afternoon prior to IPE's official opening with the second annual Animal Agriculture Environmental Sustainability Summit.  It will continue on Wednesday morning.  Programs on Thursday and Friday will examine a variety of other important topics.

In addition, USPOULTRY and the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau are teaming up to promote the first annual FeatherFest.  Participating local restaurants will compete for the "Best Of," with menu categories featuring poultry and egg dishes.  Many Atlanta restaurants will also be offering specials and discounts during IPE week.

The preregistration fee for the 2010 Expo is $35 (USD). The preregistration deadline is January 8. On-site registration is $60 (USD), preferably via cash or commonly accepted credit cards are accepted. A Western Union money order, payable in U.S. funds, is the only form of payment accepted from West Africa, Nigeria, and Pakistan.
