Vietnamese shrimp exports might face difficulties

Vietnamese shrimp exports were expected to face difficulties, according to General Secretary Nguyen Huu Dzung, Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.

The association expected domestic shrimp export volume to fall. Shrimp export prices were also expected to fall to between VND30,000/kg and VND40,000/kg for small-sized shrimp. Prices of large-sized shrimp were forecast to decline to between VND50,000/kg and VND60,000/kg.

However, Mr. Dzung said many Vietnamese businesses have adopted advanced technology to reduce costs, while more growers were using environmentally friendly biotech products. He said these moves would help the country overcome its shrimp export difficulties.
