China Broiler Weekly: AA broiler prices plunge on excess availability (week ended Sep 21, 2018)

An eFeedLink Exclusive

Price summary

Prices fell prominently.

Market analysis

AA broiler

Sales of AA broiler plummeted as slaughterhouses withheld buying after stockpiling ample supplies. This, in conjunction with abundant availability, dragged down AA broiler prices tremendously by 12%.

With AA broiler prices plunging, day-old chick prices dipped RMB0.80-1/chick to settle in the range of RMB3.90-4.30/chick.

China breed broiler

Prices of fast-growth native broiler increased 1.1% amid stable Mid-autumn Festival demand.

Meanwhile, hybrid broiler prices dropped a substantial 2.6% amid plentiful supplies.

Market forecast

AA broiler market is projected to remain soft as supply exceeds demand, hence hampering chick sales.

China breed broiler prices are seen soft after Mid-autumn Festival.
RMB=US$0.14551 (Oct 4)
