*Commonly referred to in China as liquid methionine is methionine hydroxyl analogue, a liquid source of supplemental methionine.

Market analysis

Poultry feed producers were more confident to stockpile methionine as prices of egg broke new records in September while those of broilers remained strong. However, with supplies ample, methionine price hikes were limited.

In Europe, prices of China-produced methionine were in the range of EUR2.09-2.12/kg.

Market forecast

Demand for methionine is projected to be stable as buyers stock inventories before the long October holidays. Nonetheless, prices should remain around current levels amid abundant supplies and cautious buying mood.
