Market analysis

Hog prices slid 1% on average during the week in review. Pork carcass volumes increased substantially by 2.36% to 7,848 tonnes as farmers hastened releases amid fears of African swine fever outbreak.

With supplies higher, prices of pork carcass inched lower by 0.05% to RMB19.03/kg.

Market forecast

Low hog inventories will curtail the release volumes even as farmers are more eager to release animals due to the disease outbreak. With demand set to strengthen due to the approaching of Mid-autumn Festival, hog prices are seen stable.
