South Korea toughens quarantine measures after food product found to have ASF

As an outbreak of Africa swine fever (ASF) in China threatens to expand into neighbouring countries, South Korea tightened quarantine measures at its airports this week, said the country's agriculture ministry.

The move was announced on August 27 following the detection of ASF in food products brought in from China by a South Korean traveler. The affected products were reported to  be processed pork.

Given that the foods were heat-treated, there is less likelihood of a diseases spread.
