FBA Issue 34: September / October 2010

October 21 - 23 2010
FIGAP/VIV América Latina 2010

The first ever FIGAP/VIV América Latina [VIV Latin America] will be held in Guadalajara, Mexico from October 21-23. Global suppliers and buyers active in the Latin American region will come together at the expo. So far, over 200 exhibitors from the Latin American region and overseas have already confirmed their participation.

The expo will present t developments in the feed-to-meat industry, bringing together decision makers that span the entire animal protein chain. FIGAP/VIV América Latina 2010 will also present the meat production process from start to its finished product.

A cooperation between VNU Exhibitions and FIGAP, the expo will broaden participants' knowledge of the feed-to-meat chain. The local expertise and networks of FIGAP will ensure a strong representation of national suppliers and buyers from all over Latin America. VIV is well-known for its feed-to-meat supply chain concept with a global expertise network.

Both VNU Exhibitions and FIGAP note that the livestock industry in Latin America is on a strong upward trend, such that promising business opportunities can be found throughout the region. Gerard Leeuwenburgh, director international exhibitions VNU Exhibitions Europe said that "Mexico is a perfect match to the feed-to-meat principle as it offers a broad range of activities and business developments in several compatible areas, concerning a range of species. Mexico is an important producer in the field of poultry, cattle, pork and fish, as well as animal feed. The market developments can be seen as an added bonus. Mexico has a large domestic market and is an important exporting country with free trade agreements, not only with NAFTA but also the EU and Japan."

Various countries will be represented by a country pavilion at FIGAP/VIV América Latina 2010. A Dutch delegation has joined forces to put up the Holland Pavilion, which will comprise of the organisers and the Dutch ministry of agriculture, nature and food quality. It will also present trade and supplier/buyer matching possibilities. In addition, it is organising an onsite seminar focused on Innovations in Animal Production and field visits preceding the event.

In addition, the Spanish Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Agricultural Machinery, Components, Irrigation Systems, Livestock and Post Harvesting Equipment, is sponsoring a Spanish Pavilion. France, and the American states of Illinois and Iowa are also hosting their own country pavilion.
