Ukraine's exports wheat mostly to Asia and the Middle East
According to data by UkrAgroConsult, Asian and Middle East countries were leading buyers of Ukraine wheat in July, the first month of the new 2018/19 season.
Positioned as one of the world's top wheat exporters, Ukraine sold a total of 17.2 million tonnes of wheat abroad in the previous 2017/18 season.
Last month, Ukraine exported a total of 959,960 tonnes of wheat. The data also concluded that among the total volume of wheat exports, 103,973 tonnes went to Israel, who was the leading importer of Ukraine wheat in July.
90,650 tonnes of wheat went to the Philippines, 74,957 tonnes went to Egypt and 63,070 went to Italy.
Additionally, Ukraine also exported significant volumes of wheat to Korea, Thailand, Morocco and Japan.
Ukraine has almost completed the 2018 wheat harvest, threshing around 24.5 million tonnes of the commodity and the agriculture ministry has said the export of wheat is likely to total up to 16 million tonnes in the 2018/19 July-June season.
