Price summary

Prices were stable to higher.

Market analysis

AA broiler

AA boiler prices slid by a marginal 0.34%, following the recent week's 3% rebound. Despite growing demand for chicken products, prudent slaughterhouses limited buying while supplies of AA broiler were ample.

Higher demand for day-old chicks, in preparation for September's pre-festive market, lifted prices by RMB0.40-0.70/chick to RMB3.30-4/chick.

China breed broiler

Native broiler prices increased 2.5% over the week on the back of tight availability. Rising for the fourth consecutive week, native broiler prices have surged 24%.

Chick demand slowed, however, as farmers were not keen to stock day-old chicks that would reach finishing weight during October and November.

Market forecast

AA broiler market should remain firm with the demand for chicken products robust during summer. Nonetheless, native broiler markets are expected to consolidate lower while buyers withhold buying due to the high prices.
