Market analysis

Lysine market remained stable despite slow sales amid sluggish hog feed demand. As supplies were limited due to routine maintenance, lysine producers were not eager to lower prices. Nonetheless, producers of 70-percent lysine were more willing to give discounts amid ample availability.

During June, China exported 36,214 tonnes of lysine, growing 31% on-month and 17% on-year.

In Europe, price quotes for Q3 deliveries remained in the range of EUR1.30-1.35/kg.

Market forecast

Hog feed demand is poised to remain slow partly due to low summer feed intake, and partly due to low animal inventories. However, lysine market is expected to remain stable with production limited due to plant maintenance.
