WEDA: Fostering partnerships, delivering value
On its 75th year now, Weda was founded in 1934 by Arnold Westerkamp and Bernhard Dammann. The company was then a small craftsman's establishment of conventional engineering for the production of wood gas generators.
In 1967, WEDA embarked on the development of a liquid feeding system for pigs and in 1970 presented an automatic feeding unit on the occasion of a DLG event (German Agricultural Association) in Cologne. Further, the complete equipment programme for pig management became part of the production and marketing programme of the company. And a few years later, with enough know-how, the company transferred to the manufacturing of automatic liquid feeding units. This marked one of the milestones of the company and its growing strength is further proven by more than two dozens of especially developed patents.
Carsten Bergstedt, WEDA's head of marketing, shared that other important milestones on the company's way to become global market leader in the domain of liquid feeding systems for pig managements included "the development of heating and ventilation units in the sixties, the introduction of a fully automatic electronic control system for air conditioning and ventilation technology in 1970, the making of the first computer-controlled liquid feeding system for pig managements in 1970, the advancement of components for feeding technology and the advancement of hardware and software."
WEDA prides itself as a global market leader in the domain of liquid feeding. Its profitable computer-controlled liquid feeding systems guarantee optimum efficiency and profit in pig production. The company's liquid feeding systems are cut out exactly to suit individual requirements. Each unit is considered a completely "unique specimen." Futher its systems offer a high grade of security and highest feed precision with an assurance of hygiene. This will help pig producers minimise labour input and thus reduce costs.
From being a producer of wood gas generators, WEDA has indeed become a global market leader in the domain of liquid feeding. In the pig production segment, WEDA - besides providing feeding technology and animal house equipment also attends to the segments of ventilation technology and liquid manure treatment.
"Our mission is to make the best state-of-the-art technology available to all pig unit managements worldwide," Bergstedt says.
