Brazil's agribusiness sales to Middle East spike 26.4% year-on-year
The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply reported that June sales amounted to US$642.35 million, up 26.4% year-on-year, according to the Global Islamic Economy Gateway.
Exports rose the most to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE, with meats topping exports. Exports to Saudi Arabia recorded US$118.76 million in June, up 38.5%, while Egypt bought US$118.32 million, up 81.7%. Sales to the UAE amounted to USD$110 million, up 39.5%.
For H1 2019, exports to the Middle East reached US$3.94 billion, up 19.8% year-on-year. The biggest purchase which saw the greatest rise was beef, followed by poultry. Soybean and corn exports also increased.
