Cherkizovo to expand in Voronezh oblast, Russia
Cherkizovo Group will focus its expansion in the Voronezh oblast, which is located in the central belt of European Russia, over the next 10 years.
The move was announced in a meeting between Cherkizovo Group founder Igor Babaev and Voronezh region governor Aleksey Gordeev.
Having set up a strong base in the region, the company will seek to boost its crop production to levels achieved in neigbouring regions by acquiring more land.
Cherkizovo also announced plans to build 32 more poultry houses in the region.
Coupled with the expansion of a slaughterhouse, the overall cost of its investment will be RUB2 billion (US$33 million). These investments would help push the company's poultry meat output in the Voronezh oblast to 130,000 tonnes per year, a 20% increase from 110,000 tonnes.
