Market analysis

Summer hog market remained weak as consumers cut pork consumption. Hog feed producers were therefore not eager to stock lysine inventories while sales of feed were unpromising. Although most producers stood firm on prices, traders were tempted to lower prices to stimulate sales.

In Europe, price quotes were flat in the range of EUR1.30-1.35/kg.

Market forecast

Limited production of lysine during summer will lend support to the market. However, with domestic feed sales sluggish, lysine market will be under pressure even though export demand has improved.
