China Broiler Weekly: Markets stay firm in most regions (week ended Jun 29, 2018)
An eFeedLink Exclusive
Prices were mostly stable.
AA broiler market rebounded from the recent week's decline amid tighter availability of finishing broiler. Moreover, demand for barbeque-chicken products improved as the summer holidays began. On average, AA broiler prices increased 2.7% over the week.
Chick prices were softer as farmers were not keen to expand inventories. Prices of day-old chick slid to the range of RMB2-2.40/bird.
China breed broiler
Native breed broiler markets were mostly stable in China. However, prices in the southern region plunged a whopping 8.3% due to sluggish demand. Average weekly prices dipped 1.4% as a result.
Broiler famers continued to rebuild inventories, hence supporting day-old chick prices to move higher. Fast-growth chick prices were higher in the range of RMB1-1.30/bird.
Robust demand for chicken parts during summer will help to underpin AA broiler prices. However, prices of native broilers will be under pressure amid flat demand and ample availability.
