Market analysis

Hog prices rebounded by 1.3% after consolidating lower in the previous week.

Demand for pork remained slow but limited supplies of finishing hog lent support to the market. Pork carcass prices inched up 0.16% to RMB18.54/kg even though slaughterhouses remained cautious with purchases.

Market forecast

Even though prices rebounded in the recent week, it remains uncertain whether the market will recover steadily. Weak summer demand for pork, in conjunction with cautious consumer spending, is expected to limit the upward scope of the market in the near term.
