Bedson's far-reaching innovations, grounded customer care
By Arianne M. PEREZ
Bedson S.A. started producing biological and pharmaceutical products for the veterinary industry in 1979 and what was mostly centred on the poultry sector business expanded to include the swine industry as well. For years now, the company's research on alternative therapies has driven the launching of original product lines for the growing livestock sector.
How Bedson has progressed to become one of the most successful animal health companies not only in Argentina but globally, can be attributed to its strong foundation and progressive outlook. During its first few years in the industry, the small laboratory that was then Bedson decided to shift its focus from biological products (vaccines) to pharmaceutical specialties (mainly antibiotics).
Further, the company intensified its product diversification to come up with original proprietary formulas such as liver protectors, immune-system stimulants, anti-thermal aids and polyvitamin energisers. From then on, the company propelled considerably, expanding its growth in the global setting and freeing itself from the boundaries of its local market, Argentina. Presently, Bedson has eight branch offices worldwide and has operations in 50 markets to which it exports more than 90 percent of its production.
The company covers all of Latin America, from Mexico up north to Argentina and Chile down south. It has a strong presence in south and east Africa as well as in the north of the continent. It is also present in 15 countries in the Middle East, including Iran, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. It is active in Southeast Asia as well through offices and distributors in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. Spain is currently its main EU operation.
For a highly efficient global distribution set-up, the company operates through seven branch offices worldwide alongside its headquarters in Argentina: US, Mexico, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Spain, Lebanon and Malaysia. Operating out of these regional offices, the company's staff works with and provides technical and commercial support to a wide network of national distributors and sub-distributors.
Currently, Bedson's products are being manufactured and shipped directly from its GMP-certified plant in Argentina to the four corners of the world. And due to expanding demand and increasing number of potential markets, the company is already considering the possibility of outsourcing the production of some of its products outside of Argentina.
All in all, Bedson's presence in various markets attests one thing - it has excellent products that the market needs.
