Market analysis

Demand for lysine remained poor as the hog population was low, hence decimating feed consumption. Although lysine producers limited output amid weak demand and rising corn costs, the market continued to face downward pressure.

In Europe, price quotes stayed at EUR1.20/kg.

Market forecast

A hog sector plagued by the African Swine Fever is not going to recover in the near term. With feed production slow, lysine sales will remain sluggish putting a lid on prices. Nevertheless, producer will stand firm to sustain profit margins while raw ingredients costs are high.
