Market analysis

Demand for lysine improved following the recent week's substantial price falls. Most lysine producers held price quotes unchanged although a handful continued to negotiate prices to promote sales.

Meanwhile, Yipin, which has scheduled for routine maintenance in June, has stopped taking orders. East Hope is expected to halt production for maintenance in June. The production of 70-percent lysine is likely to decrease in the coming period.

In Europe, price quotes stayed in the range of EUR1.30-1.35/kg.

Market forecast

Lower output due to maintenance halts will help to underpin lysine prices. However, with hog feed demand sluggish and soymeal prices soft, lysine prices are unlikely to rebound strongly.
