Market analysis

AA broiler

Release volume of AA broiler recovered to normal levels but sales of chicken products remained sluggish. Prices of AA broiler continued to slide, falling 5.6% to nine-week lows.

As AA broiler farmers, who were incurring losses, were reluctant to increase stocks of da-old chicks, prices fell to the range of RMB0.40-0.90/chick.

China breed broiler

Prices of China breed broiler strengthened in Guangdong amid tight availability, but moved lower in other regions. On average, China breed broiler price inched up 0.14% over the week.

Lacklustre demand dragged prices of day-old chick lower.

Market forecast

Broiler markets are expected to stay weak as demand for chicken remains slow while supplies are abundant. Chick prices should soften as well while farmers withhold purchases.

RMB=US$0.1452 (May 17)
