Termotecnica Pericoli introduces centrifugal shutter system for poultry housing
 

 

Termotecnica Pericoli, a manufacturer of ventilation equipment for the livestock and agricultural industries, has developed its patented EWS centrifugal shutter mechanism system which is designed to operate at greater efficiency on more reliable systems.

 

The shutter mechanism's design is based on the application of a shaft/bearing combination with all the effort being discharged on the bearing instead of the shaft.  This action will help reduce repairs and maintenance cost.

 

The system features specially engineered polymers being applied for such application as the bearings and counter weight are fully encapsulated in the polymers, thus increasing service life and durability.

 

The centrifugal mechanism is attached directly to the drive hub and propeller assembly, creating a single integral unit. When the shutter is opened, the bearing is the only moving piece. The shutter can stay fully opened or closed, without obstructing air flow.

 

 

The benefits of the EWS shutter system are expected to reduce maintenance cost and improve operational efficiencies. It is capable of quiet operations and ideal for variable or fixed speed fans.

 

The system is further enhanced by the new design on the shutter blades and plastic shutter sockets, essential for an effective air and light elimination.

 

Termotecnica Pericoli noted that there has been a significant shift in demand for centrifugal shutters in recent years as they have become the industry standard for shutter operating mechanisms on exhaust fans, deployed in poultry production facilities around the world.

 

The main function of shutter systems is to effectively seal fan openings (when the fans are inactive), in order to reduce the loss of controlled climate condition inside poultry housing and eliminate the inlet of external ambient air.  The shutters should not impede air flow or affect fan performances and can be open at all speeds and air velocities.
