*Commonly referred to in China as liquid methionine is methionine hydroxyl analogue, a liquid source of supplemental methionine.

Market analysis

Methionine market remained weak even though price falls were limited. Feed millers were reluctant to stockpile inventories while the outlook of the poultry markets looked bleak.

In Europe, price quotes for Q2 deliveries remained in the range of EUR3-3.10/kg, while major customers clinched deals at RMB2.95-3/kg.

Market forecast

Low consumption of poultry feed due to diminished inventories will hamper the sales of methionine, holding prices down in the coming period.
