Bird flu situation in Netherlands over
The bird flu situation in the Netherlands is officially declared over, with a five-month old measure to keep poultry birds caged being lifted by the country's State Secretary of Economic Affairs Martijn van Dam, RTL Nieuws reports.
The risk of infection has been mitigated significantly to the point that no further measures are required, according to an expert assessment. No poultry farm has been infected since Christmas last year. Neighbouring countries around the Netherlands have not report new outbreaks.
According to RTL Nieuws, the last time bird flu was detected occurred over a month ago, with a wild water bird being affected.
