Market analysis

The quantity of finishing hog remained limited, albeit rising over the week. Pork carcass volumes of major wholesale centres increased 1% to 8,071 tonnes, while prices surged 4.6% to RMB20.65/kg amid supply shortages.

On average, hog price increased 2.9% over the week.

Market forecast

Stronger demand for pork, resulting from the approaching of Qingming Festival, will boost the sales of hog. With the quantity of finishing hog limited, prices are set to rise further.
