Global markets

CNF prices of Peruvian prime-grade fishmeal remained at US$1,800/tonne as several producers withheld releases.

Market analysis

Demand for fishmeal from the aquaculture sector expanded, lending support to the market. Hence, even a port inventories increased 2.3% to 153,900 tonnes, traders lifted prices amid high import costs.

Price quotes for Peruvian prime-grade products continued climbed to RMB13,000-13,200/tonne.

Market forecast

With import costs rising due to a depreciated renminbi, traders will be included to stand firm on prices. However, with the outlook of China's economy bleak, price hikes will be limited even though aqua feed production will gain momentum entering April.
