Market analysis

Pork carcass sales volume increased 3.2% to 8,512 tonnes over the week. However, that was not enough to stabilise hog prices, which dropped 2.7%. Over the past three weeks, hog prices have accumulatively plummeted 16% amid excess availability.

Market forecast

China's hog market will remain weak in the near term as smaller farms are eager to clear inventories to cut losses. Hog prices are seen weak unless pork imports decrease substantially and demand improves.
