Market analysis

Pork demand recovered as slaughterhouses stocked depleted inventories, lifting pork carcass volumes in major wholesale centres to surge 5.2% to 8,169 tonnes. Prices increased 0.56% to RMB17.86/kg over the week.

With demand improving and supplies of finishing hog tight, hog prices rallied 8.2%.

Market forecast

Slaughterhouses are expected to limit purchases after stockpiling sufficient supplies of pork. Hog prices are therefore likely to consolidated lower amid cautious mood.
