*Commonly referred to in China as liquid methionine is methionine hydroxyl analogue, a liquid source of supplemental methionine.

Market analysis

Supplies of methionine tightened as producers cut output. Major producers of imported brands lifted price quotes while one halted price releases with limited stocks to offer. As feed producers expanded depleting stockpiles, methionine prices strengthened over the week.

In Europe, prices of China-produced methionine were in the range of EUR2.34-2.42/kg.

Market forecast

Methionine prices are seen stable to higher in the near term, as supplies stay tight. However, with poultry feed manufacturers treading prudently, price hikes are expected to be moderate.
