Market analysis

Supplies of lysine increased as more lysine producers resumed price releases over the week. However, feed producers were reluctant to expand stockpiles of lysine, as hog market weakened beyond expectations after the festive holidays. Hence, even as a handful of producers stood firm, lysine prices slid substantially over the week.

In Europe, price quotes were in the range of EUR1.33-1.38/kg.

Market forecast

Falling hog prices will continue to exert pressure on lysine market. However, with soaring soymeal prices lifting the usages of lysine, and production expenses on the rise amid climbing corn prices, lysine producers will be cautious in cutting prices further.
