Quotes for imported dl-methionine by the largest producer lowered to RMB36.50-37.00/kg, while average transacted prices (delivered-to-feed-mill) were at RMB36-36.50/kg. Meanwhile, prices of locally-produced methionine stayed in the range of RMB34.50-34.80/kg.

Global markets
 
In Europe, quotes for Q2 orders were at EUR3.20-3.25/kg, while major customers reported clinching deals lower at EUR3.18/kg for long term contracts.
 
 
Market analysis
 
Demand for methionine in China remained soft due to slow animal inventory growths. Hence, prices softened further as import costs dropped amid subdued demand in the global markets.
 
 
Market forecast
 
China's methionine market is unlikely to improve in the near term amid decimated feed consumption.
