Latvia: Output of meat, milk, eggs grows slightly in 2006
Latvian farmers raised the output of meat, milk and eggs last year compared to 2005, the central statistics office said.
In 2006, Latvian farming businesses of all kinds produced 115,300 tonnes of meat (live weight) at a 2,400 tons or 2.1 percent rise from 2005, when the output of meat amounted to 112,900 tons.
Milk production, on the other hand, increased by 8,500 tonnes or 1.1 percent year-on-year to 815,300 tonnes.
The output of eggs in Latvia rose by 8.7 million or 1.6 percent to 554.4 million eggs in 2006.
In 2005, the country produced 112,900 tonnes of meat, 806,800 tonnes of milk and 545.7 million eggs.
